DNP Degree, Chinese, Cantonese & Mandarin

I ask for admission to your DNP Program at XXXX University because it brings me especially great delight to be able to provide culturally sensitive care to my patients. This is especially true with Asian and most particularly Chinese patients since I am a fully bilingual Chinese speaker of Cantonese as well as Mandarin.

Currently working with a variety of community health organizations all of which are dedicated to underserved and special needs populations, I am also attending classes in Spanish and making rapid progress and I see Spanish as a lifelong endeavor at which I am also most determined as a result of the critical importance of this language for working with the underserved.

My long term objective is to distinguish myself as a highly effective leader in the healthcare facility where I work in the area of administration and as a specialist in the area of clinical care nursing and publish in this area. Nothing will bring me greater joy than employing consultative, collaborative, and leadership skills so as to make our intra-professional and inter-professional teams as creative and effective as possible; in a constant search for way to foster and enhance effective communication and patient outcomes through the implementation of new, creative initiatives that improve our health care delivery systems.

I am applying to your particularly distinguished DNP Program at XXXX University because I seek a lifetime of service in the promotion of safe, timely, effective, efficient, and equitable patient-centered care. Dedicated to lifelong learning, I look forward to many decades to come sharing in the discovery of new approaches to care delivery. I hope to increasingly have a share in or influence over healthcare policy making. I see myself first and foremost as an advocate for my patients, for equity, social justice, and ethical policies. I seek to direct my career to the service of underserved communities as this is where my greatest passion lies and where I find the greatest joy.

Better utilization of nurse practitioners will improve access to higher quality healthcare at the same time that America’s crippling health care costs can be reduced, I feel strongly that we live in exciting times for health care in America and I feel fortunate to be part of the advancements taking place in nursing in such exciting times.

Finishing my BS in Biology within 2 yrs at XXXX State University with a GPA of 3.9 propelled me forward to earn my MSN where I had the privilege of serving as a research assistant. I look forward in the future to working with leaders and professional organizations to remove barriers to NP practice as part of legislation that benefits our entire healthcare system. My highest or most noble dream is to inspire future generations of nursing professionals by publishing articles in professional journals in Chinese as well as English, inspiring new generations of American as well as Chinese nurses.

I thank you for considering my application to your program.
